Biography

Core Project was formed in London in 2005 by brothers T.Jones (guitars) and Dan Jones (vocals/erstwhile keyboards). Possessing a desire to mix the raw power and groove of Pantera and the progressive structures of Dream Theater, T.Jones wanted a band that would not take the easy way out when it came to writing songs, applying technical musicianship, the utmost power delievered through epic songwriting.

The search for musicians to realise this ambition saw the band exist with different line ups before arriving at the current line up. In 2005, the brothers rehearsed and played a number of gigs with bassist Andrew Soliman (Sir Jack Potatoes), who coined the name Core Project for the band - and drummer Tom Soron (Fude, Playing With Fire). This lineup was short-lived as neither Andrew nor Tom could properly commit, and CP was forced into hiatus whilst the brothers searched for replacements.

The search ended when, in late 2006, the brothers were joined by Pawel Zawadzki (drums) and Vero (bass). Pawel, in his native Australia, had played with metal bands Embassy and Imagineye, and was invited to play for groove metal outift Karnivool, but Pawel chose to move to the UK, and was promptly enlisted to join the Project. Vero had played in funk/punk bands The By-Products, Mistook Crook and A Consequence Lost, but left in early 2007 to concentrate on the Project.

With this lineup, and with Dan playing keyboards while singing, Core Project begain to play again in London in early 2007, playing The Rock Garden and The Loaded Dog.

It was at this point that the band found virtuoso Scottish keyboard player Iain Armour, more popularly known by his stage name Fox Amoore, who was drafted into the band to fill the empty keyboard slot, and allow Dan to move to centre stage to occupy the frontman slot. However, Iain's stint as CP's keyboard player lasted only two shows in London, at The Loaded Dog and The Fiddler's Elbow. This was due to the geographical strain Iain's location put on the rest of the band - having a keyboardist living in Edinburgh was not the ideal situation for a London-based band! After Iain's departure, the band played five more gigs at The Loaded Dog, The Water Rat's Theatre, Cargo and The George and Devonshire, with Dan resuming duties behind the keyboard, and resumed their search for a keyboard player.
